Tabby Tuesday

Ichiro · August 26, 2013 ·

IMG_3160smMama is allowing Ichiro to get way too close to me.

I am so distressed I am getting mats all over my fur. Mama is not sure why I get them more in the summer. She furminates me a lot. In fact, she worries she might do it too much but we keep having to trim mats out around my pretty puffy furs. Does anyone else have this problem more in the summer?

Yes! Figaro is a shedding matting mess most of the time. Mom got him all de-matted and brushed out this spring, but he keeps on growing more mats. Mom says it’s because he likes water and will get in the sink…and outside he’ll sit on wet grass and walk through sprinklers. He’s a weirdo.

Yup! JJ gets some mats that Mom can manage.
Treasure, since his tooth surgery has gained some needed weight
and had his fur grow in thick!
Now Mom has to work to keep mats away. It is not working 😉

    You still look lovely Gemini!

Summer fur can be problematic. Boodie got matted earlier in the summer. My human was able to brush them out, though.

We think that the heat and humidity make mats worse. Newt had armpit manscaping at the vet about six weeks ago because he mats much more quickly in the summer than the less humid winter months.

It’s hard to keep long furs pretty all the time, ‘specially in the summer. But we think yours look very nice, Gemini.

(Hannah speaking) Mum snips my matts out when I sit on her and rollover to get tummy tickles – she keeps a little pair of scissors near her favourite chair and snips and snips at big matts because if there’s a slight ouch from me she knows I’ll disappear so she has to do it a bit at a time. We think it’s because when I go fence walking I get sticky stuff off the plants when my fur brushes them and it causes my fur to matt.

None of us have fur long enough to get mats, But we are glad because if it is heat related we’d all be in trouble nearly year around here.

Gemini: I always have an issue with more matts at the end of winter, because I shed my mane in the spring…. while it’s a great way to lose 2 pounds and have the food service people feel sorry for you and complain you look too thin and they give you more cheese; I look rather anorexic frankly and would like to keep my mane all year….but then there IS the whole grooming issue…….sigh…..

Your furs look very pretty Gemini. My fur is thick but not long so I don’t get mats.

We have short fur so we’re not matted at all. Are you maybe rolling in sticky grass?
