Chey opened her blog by reading Kukka Maria. The inspired Feline Empress was one of our favorites and when we wanted Chey to blog we needed to give her the same time of unshakable confidence that Kukka had. We are not, and never have been, very knowledgeable about Pop Culture so beyond Oprah and a few big names, the references Courtney made in her blog were often unfamiliar. We are however very interested and involved in politics, both national and international.
So Chey’s first political campaign post was back in April of 2006
As a potential political candidate in 2008, I have decided I must address this issue of the high cost of gasoline. I think that something needs to be done and done quickly. If I am elected, I will require all cat owners who are not in service industries to work at least one day from home, thus saving on the over all gasoline usage. They must rub ears and massage backs for at least 5 minutes every hour so that they are not too caught up in the telecommute.
There are alternative energy sources. I propose to offer subsides for anyone who can create a bio fuel from catnip. Catnip is basically a weed. It smells great. How could anyone be against having catnip everywhere? I know, I came out as not using, however as political candidate I must not be caught under the influence. However, by the time they get catnip fields everywhere, I’ll be well out of office and can imbibe to my hearts content.
Finally, I am completely against drilling in the Arctic. What cat wants to be that cold?
Catnip fuel, or nipothal as it came to be known would become a staple of her campaign generating income from Big Catnip but drawing criticism from her opponents.
Kukka Maria was Mom’s first cat blog to read. After Simba won one of your Find Chey Fridays, we were talked into starting his blog. Interesting connections!

It’s very interesting to read about your beginnings in the CB world.
Oh, being a small grower, we try not to mention Big Catnip around Jonesie.

Aw, Chey, you look so young. This is a cool trip down memory lane!
This will be fun to hear all about your early blogging and see Chey as a candidate. That is such a good picture of you Chey. Take care.
Can’t fault your argument at all, Chey!!
Does anyone know what happened to Kukka?

You started your first campaign before we were around. We have to question using catnip as a biofuel though. We would hate for there to be a world shortage for it’s proper use. We also enjoyed reading Kukka Maria’s blog and were very sad to see Courtney’s last post. We hope KM and Brach stayed together and Courtney has been able to find happiness.
