We agree with you on this SOPA problem, hope the new legislation does not go through as it seems to us the law is already stringent enough. A website owner who lives locally has just been extradited to America for creating a site with links to TV programmes – this isn’t illegal here, and he isn’t doing anything more than Google would do, but all the same he faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. We find this worrying, and are sticking to using our own photos and videos for now, even though we always check and ask permission before using anything that someone else has produced on the web.
Unfortunately we were unaware of the SOPA protest and had already updated our website on that day, or we would have withheld the update in support.
