My human got a letter from her certification body today. It’s actually the second one. It’s just a letter. Buried in the letter, down towards the bottom are the things she needs to do. Buried in the middle of this list, where it is least likely to be noticed is the fact that she has to fill out an application and she can find said application online. However, she had to read the entire letter to find this out.
The main body of the letter has no interest to her as it is propoganda about why she should stay certified. The fact that she is reading this at all looking to find out how to stay certified says that she is committed to doing this. So why does she have to read this? Because they hid information she needed in this paragraph.
The website was equally user friendly. Looking around, she found something that looked promising for recertification. It was not the right page but directed her to a link for recertification. She clicked on this link and was taken back to the website’s home page. When she found the recertification page (she says she was silly not to think to look under “for diplomates” rather than under “certification process”) by looking at the search the site page, she clicked the link that said to download the recertification application click this link. She hesitated as the name of the link was the home page of the website. However she did so. The certification application and handbook was downloaded. You may think this is great but certification is for potential candidates, not those looking to recertify. So she went back to the recertification page and found a second link at the bottom of the page that said click here. She did so, not expecting anything. However, it was the correct application.
I have realized from my humans adventure that I should make sure my requests for donation be simple to use. I will
- Ask for money in the first paragraph
- Tell them how to give money in the first paragraph
- Link directly to the page they need to give and not the home page of my site
- Tell them why they should give me money for my campaign
- Tell them how wonderful they are for giving to my campaign
- Remind them of how to give to my campaign
- Relist the exact link of the webs
I think this should get me what I want. After all, I am a Siamese. I’m good at that. Perhaps I could give lessons to organizations like my human’s?
It is great you were able to observe and learn from your human’s frustrations. It is always best to be direct and as a Siamese I know you are more than capable!
Chey, you are learning a lot of important things for your campaign.
You are an extrememly intelligent kitty of fine breeding! You will make a wonderful president.
You’re right, Chey. Humans should not make so much trouble for each other!
I congratulate you Chey since most women would not be thinking about things such as this on their honeymoon! Of course, I’m not speaking from experience since I’ve never been on a honeymoon myself, but that’s what Mom told me.
I do agree though, upon your return we must get busy with campaign strategy if you intend to win this election away from this Cato guy.
George
Mum says the same thing about e-mails at work sometimes.
GET TO THE POINT!
My woman works with engineers, who have to be certified in some states. She has always joked that engineers can’t write. One state’s web page for the certification test for Professional Engineers had an obvious typo in the large, bold title. She said that was the test; if they didn’t see anything wrong with that page, they are qualified.
