I have to admit that last week I was okay with Melinda going home. After all, Blake is the hometown boy. He was thrilled to shake my paw at the large gathering in Seattle and to get to chat with me on the light plane to Bothell (who travels by plane to Bothell from Seattle?!) Anyway, I was rooting for him in the finals.
Then I heard the song writer’s song. It was so obviously unlike him. I was crushed, knowing he didn’t have a chance. I wished that Melinda had made it to give Jordin some competition with the song. Now, I admit to being influenced by my human. Humans screetching all sound alike to me. My human preferred Melinda. She preferred her for the silly reason that Jordin told Bon Jovi that her mother was a big fan of his. It made my human feel old. Granted she is old by Idol standards. Not only Jordin but Blake could be her child (though probably not Melinda!). However, she didn’t like the thought that one of her teenaged idols was considered over the hill! So she hasn’t liked Jordin since.
At any rate, hearing Blake have to sing a song so completely unsuited to him made me think that Jordin should have had to beatbox. Fair is fair, right? We might have had some nip to celebrate her win, but now I think I’ll just nap.  I’m thankful that the singing is over for another year and we can get on to quieter, thoughtful television–like good crime shows.
Hahahaha! My Mommie also felt old when Jordin said that to Bon Jovi. But then, my Mommie IS old! Hahahahahhahahaha. Oh. Sorry, Mommie.
I tried to watch but Kaze got a package in the mail and we opened it and it smelled like nip and….well, what happened again? I think I passed out somewhere when they were singing something.
Meowmy has always been “old” for her age and she loves Bon Jovi! (She is 25).
we totally agree wif your Mommy – we was rooting really hard from Melinda. She hadded the bestest voice, but as mommy says, mostly pre-teen girls vote, and Blake was the “heartthrob” and Jordin was the “teen girl” that they all identify wif. At least Sanjaya didn’t win.
What is this Idol thing you speak of? I don’t really watch much TV as the Dad is the one who owns the remote. Well, the Mom does when she’s home but it’s the Dad who is home all day. I get stuck watching “Spongebob Squarepants” and “Invader Zim” all day long. Bah.
Oh, I agree with that last bit 100%!! Let’s have a CSI/Law & Order marathon weekend! whoo-hoo!
pee ess,
your mom is not old!
