I’d like to give Radcliffe, Allie, Luna and Ozzie a big heads up and thank you for the exact type of information I was looking for. It’s at PetsitUSA.  The person writing the blog has actually personally called every manufacturer on the list to verify that they are NOT involved in the recall and asked who actually produces their foods.  There is some excellent information on quality control

I found it interesting which companies were willing to discuss the issue with the person on the phone and which companies kept the information on where their foods are made, “confidential.” Â I don’t think where a pet food is made should be confidential. Â I’d rather know where. Â I’d also like to know what sorts of things you do to insure good quality control.

I’ve been feeding Jack Hill’s Prescription Diet C/D (which is supposedly entirely free of recall) ever since Medi-Cal ( a Canadian company) Preventative stopped preventing Jack’s pee-problems. While I can’t afford to throw out what we have (and none of the cats show the least sign of problems regarding food-in fact they’ve been suspiciously good lately–I think they’re plotting against me again), I certainly won’t be buying any more Hill’s products, now that I know so much of it is processed at Menu Foods. Even aside from the tainted food bit, I will not support a company that supports a company doing that kind of animal testing.
I noticed the canned food label only states which Canadian company imports the food into Canada, and who owns the trademarks, not where it comes from. I’m really irritated that I never noticed that before.
I’m going to try to do some checking on Canadian companies regarding this stuff.
